Family Beach Outing

This water soluble oil painting was inspired by a trip to Laguna Beach. I wanted to capture these family members in different poses, drawing the viewer's eye from the mom nearest us, to the children beyond. Late afternoon sun striking the figures cast a warm glow, helped to accentuate the forms, and provided a nice contrast with cooler tones for the rocks and water. I added terns in the foreground for interest, and duller, lighter colors for the distant land form.
