Pier to Forever
Looking out my hotel window and seeing this sunrise during a recent stay at Daytona Beach, I couldn't help but be inspired by the pier as it stretched out across the water towards the sun. The colorful shimmers dancing across the calmest waves made it a peaceful and serene sight to behold that morning. The colors resembled more of a sunset than a sunrise but it was brilliant, nonetheless! I started this painting as a brunaille underpainting as that is my usual way to work through the values and it was more important than ever in this rendering because I was towering above this view and at an angle making it one of the more complex pieces I have ever attempted. I used a lot of Venetian Red with all the colors to maintain the harmony for this rendering and I feel it captured the mood perfectly!
