Last Light Over Reynolds Creek
While in Glacier National Park for a plein air competition, we had an extraordinarily windy day that was to be followed by extreme cold and snow - in August. On my way out of the park to lower elevation and warmth, I stopped many times to watch the light change across the landscape. The descending clouds, heavy with snow, opened up from time to time to allow a touch of late afternoon sun to peek through. This was one of my favorite moments: a gorgeous warmth illuminating the distant peaks, fog rising from the creek, and gently dramatic contrasts. I knew it was an experience I would revisit in my studio.
