This painting is a studio piece developed from several small plein air pieces. Montana's Centennial Mountains rim the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. This remote area is mostly closed to motor vehicles and out of cellphone range. Painting there was a wonderful opportunity to be immersed in a dwindling, pristine western landscape!
