Montana de Oro is one of the highlights of the California State park system, where poppies grow in the spring, sea spray blows across the rocks, and the waves crash against the rocks. When I set up, I felt exuberant and energetic, alive like the flowers and field in which I was painting--I wished the painting to reflect that.
