This plein air watercolor captures the essence of Cholula, inspired by its rich history and colonial architecture. Painted in just three hours, it reflects the spontaneity and energy of the moment. The sky was created using a two-layer technique, which resulted in abstract cloud formations that add depth and movement. For the architectural details I used my experienced vision as an architect, defining forms and depth. Starting with a light sketch, I built up washes of color to balance light and shadow, adding final touches with loose brushstrokes to bring life to the scene. The result is a vibrant and expressive interpretation that evokes the timeless beauty and harmony of this historic place.
