The Stronghold of Woven Roots

The Stronghold of Woven Roots, Landscape
The Stronghold of Woven Roots
My oil painting is of sagebrush with the Bridger Mountains of Montana as the backdrop. This was a quick finish painting for a live auction, benefiting veterans and active duty service members with physical or mental injuries post 9/11. Sage derives from the word “salve”, which means “to heal”. Sagebrush also has a complex and intricate root system to ensure it can survive through the harshest of environments. When I look at the sagebrush that speckles the vastly varied landscapes of our state, I see the epitome of what is the beauty and healing that is Montana.
