A Sidestreet in Rome

I love exploring architecture, whether it is 50 years-old or 2,000, because it is such an insight into how people lived and a reminder that they had the same joys and problems that we do. I was with my family on this trip so I only had time to do a short sketchbook study and take some notes on the color and texture, as well as take photos, but by adding elements that weren't there and subtracting elements that were, I tried to capture the true spirit of Rome and the people who have built and lived there rather than simply a visual representation of what that spot looks like.
