Gum Trees by the Murray River

This painting is inspired by a trip I took to Australia in 2015. I painted en plein air by the Murray River in Victoria and also created a studio artwork of this scene upon my return home. I decided to paint this scene again, this time with a different composition, because I wanted to see how far my art has progressed in the last ten years since the first time I painted it. One of the reasons this landscape speaks to me so much is because of the incredible energy of the location and the beautiful gum trees.

I painted this artwork in oils on a 12" x 16" wooden panel.
